Graduation day set for May 23

The month of May is finally here, and the senior class of 2012 is ready to graduate hoping to move on to bigger and better things.

Graduation is scheduled for May 23 at the University of Phoenix Stadium, also known as the Cardinal’s Stadium, at 3 p.m. A dignified ceremony is planned in honor of the graduating students and their families.

Tickets will be given out to students on the May 22, and all who attend must present them at the entrance. Only children who are two years old and under do not need a ticket to enter.

Students must report to the stadium the day of graduation an hour prior to the ceremony and cannot bring along cellphones or any other devices of that sort. Family members and friends may bring balloons and flowers, but horns or anything that causes a disruptive noise is not allowed at graduation.

Parking information has yet to be released, but should be available in the next few days.

Now for the attire that graduating students must wear, counselor Tina Valenzuela made it clear that formal clothes are required for this event. Valenzuela said that boys must wear slacks and a dress shirt along with a tie, while girls must wear a dress or a skirt.

During the ceremony and all the time in between, students are expected to be on their best behavior. Valenzuela said that the La Joya staff will not hesitate to pull someone out of line if they are not behaving how they should be.

“Our seniors are expected to be at their best behavior, especially on graduation day. They should make it a great moment for themselves and also for their families who are supporting them,” Valenzuela said.

With another class completing the key milestone of graduating from high school, Valenzuela is happy in being a part of this school. She also gives advice to the students who are leaving, telling them to enjoy and cherish this moment.

“Just have fun and enjoy this unforgettable experience in your life,” she said.
