By Mandy White

Millions flocked to the theaters to see puberty stricken British actor Daniel Radcliffe once again take on the role of Harry. The movie, which takes place during Potter’s second year at Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, stirs up all the magical elements that make the perfect film for both kids and adults alike. In the second film, young Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts after a horrible summer with the Dursleys, his Muggle (non magic) family. Only this time a mystery surrounds the school. Evil lurks the halls, for the unknown ‘Chamber of Secrets’ has been opened, and everyone thinks Harry is the one who did it. Eager to prove himself to everyone, and with the help of ever-curious Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, the threesome set out to solve the mystery encircling the school. However one thing remains that categorizes the movie away from perfect. All throughout the film, scenes seemed to be copied and pasted. It lacked certain key details and if you didn’t read the book, you would be lost during particular parts. To an obsessed fanatic, the story was relatively similar except for really petty unrelated scenes, and for a two hour and forty-five minute film, the screenwriters did a good job following the main plot. With more spooky tunnels, stunning visual effects, and largely hilarious scenes (mostly thanks to Rupert Grant, who plays Ron), this film is bigger and better than the first. The story itself is intriguing, and mixed with the fantasy world that surrounds Hogwarts, one can certainly say that the movie once again lives up to the novel that has captured the world’s heart.
