By Sadaf Hussain

Every year the second semester physics students take a trip to Six Flags Great America. However, it is not all fun and games. The purpose of this trip is to combine all the physics information the students have been taught throughout the class to make calculations based on real life applications. The students are expected to write a lab report worth 200 points, which is a big determinant of their final grade for the semester. They are expected to record data about each roller coaster they go on. The lab will be considered the review for the final exam since many equations and concepts will be used during the trip. The trip is a total of 11 hours long (including the drive there and back). The busses will leave from Arrowhead at 7:30 A.M. and will be arriving back to Arrowhead at 6:30 P.M. Many students end up having some extra time after doing calculations to enjoy themselves on the trip. After all the data is collected, the students are allowed to actually go on the rides for fun and maybe even eat a funnel cake or two! The trip is on Wednesday May 23, and it is for all general and honors physics classes offered at Arrowhead second semester.
