All over Nevada, schools are going head to head to find out which school has the best tennis team. Among the Greenwave’s best tennis team members are stand-out players Dylan Slentz (10 th ) and Kristen Lara (11 th ). Coached by Tommy Thomson (girls) and John Moore (boys), the teams hope to take the state championships by storm. Slentz, who has played tennis for two years, has a common goal among all who play tennis, to win at least one match. The reason he joined was for two reasons, it was the sport that his dad played and his friends told him about it. “I love away games,” he explains “because you get to spend some time with friends of yours in other towns!” He has been a difficult player to beat at any match. Slentz believes that it’s an “exhausting sport” and that “most people don’t know the difficulties of tennis.” Lara, who has played tennis for two years, also has the same goal. Lara believes that it’s complicated at times. She has dominated the tennis court and she encourages all students to join because it is a “fun sport and you’ll love it! I heard about it last year and thought, I will do it, and have kept dedicated to it to the point that I’m pretty good.” The girls’ and boys’ tennis teams share the common pursuit of winning the state championship trophy. The boys’ tennis team currently has three wins and five losses. The girls’ tennis team currently has three wins and four losses
