By Emily Nikolaus

“We’ve accomplished everything we’ve ever dreamed about, including platinum albums, touring the world, and getting nominated for awards. But getting a chance to do it again is really exciting,” says Hoobastank guitarist Dan Estrin regarding the group’s comeback. The release of Hoobastank’s new album “Fornever” is a step back into the spotlight since their last album in 2006. Their 2004 album, “The Reason” launched the group into stardom and earned them three Grammy nominations. Since stepping out of the public eye for almost 3 years, the sense of regaining their previous fame is heavy on the band’s mind. The newest album is filled with heartfelt songs about both failed and successful relationships. “ Don’t Think I Love You” describes a relationship disintegrating due to a change of heart. While, “You’re the One” is inspired by lead singer, Doug Robb’s, proposal to his now-wife. The new album seems to strike a balance between emotions. Rather than playing to the fan base that was initially attracted to “The Reason”, Hoobastank is taking a chance and playing to a different demographic, with their more aggressive songs. “It’s like a make-or-break record for us. We approached it as if it were our last,” said Hoobastank band member.
