Holy Family is walking the path towards goodness and supporting others to do so during this Lent. Holy Family Principal Tim Gallic and theology teacher Dave Good came up with the brand new idea of having a series of Lenten talks because they wanted to share the theological talents and ideas of the teachers and staff with all parents. The Lenten series of talks will be given at the Holy Family High School library from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18: Pride and Humility by Tim Gallic, Principal of HFHS. Thursday, Feb. 25: Sloth and Fortitude by Dave Good, theology teacher. Thursday, Mar. 4: Gluttony and Temperance by Peter Galmish, theology teacher. Thursday, Mar. 11: Lust and Self control by Tim Gallic. Wednesday, Mar. 17: Greed and Generosity by Dave Good. Wednesday, Mar. 31: Envy and Faith, by Peter Galmish. Each talk will focus on a capital sin and its corresponding virtue. Capital sins have the capability to affect everyone, and according to Gallic, the Lenten series will aim to talk about how to master the capital sins with virtues. According to Gallic, the insights given by Good, Galmish and himself will be helpful in fighting the vices in the world today. The virtues discussed are necessary to combat sin and lead a Christian life, according to Gallic. Because the series of talks is new to Holy Family this year, the amount of people expected to attend is unknown, but according to Gallic, the turn out should be successful. “We want to help everyone in their walk with Christ and make Lent more productive,” said Gallic. The Rosary will be said beforehand, and refreshments will be served afterward.
