The day is an important opportunity for freshmen to join in on the experiences of senior students and to learn from their talks. The rest of the day is then spent trying to pull the class together and show them that their differences do not matter in the long run. This year, on March 18 the Class of 2013, had their day of reflection, beginning with a little dance party led by senior Chris Dunlevy and his jerking. Then, the freshmen were instructed to take their seats for the first talk, James Simms. James had a moving speech and a powerful message of unity, change, and growing up. The second talk was then given by Collin Macke as he shared his family life and realization of right and wrong friends. Next, Lou Hehman, gave his talk about being accepted by his fellow classmates and addressed the major problems among classes uniting. The 4 th talk was given by Ted Hays, who told the story of how it took a series of bad events to expose that he was cared for by friends and family. The freshmen and seniors then broke for lunch. After lunch, the talks continued. To lead off the second inning was Sam Collins who shared his family life and how he conquered using drugs as a means to escape reality. Sam’s talk was followed by Matt Smith who shared his ability to overcome his selfishness. The final talk was presented by the Rector for the day Chris Garnick. Chris’s talk stressed the importance of the day and how even he was guilty of selling his classmates short. The day ended with the fight song and the reminder not to repeat the mistakes they’ve heard.
