Second year, second take – as the 2010 school year comes to a close, the finishing touches are being placed on the school’s Silver Crown award-winning Titanium yearbook, titled “Take 2.” Final completion of the book occurred on April 29, and distribution is set to take place on May 18 at the school’s annual release party directly after school in the cafeteria. The first 300 students in attendance will receive a free can of soda and slice of pizza. The 176-page, full-color book features the “seeing double” theme throughout, “double-takes” shown in a photo bar format featuring pairs of students. The book takes a second, more in-depth view on campus happenings, and a re-cap, all centered around the number two – a reflection of the end of the school’s second year. Editors-in-Chief Neda Talebi and Anna Cheban’s hopes are high that campus reception will be positive, and this year’s book brings even more memories alive than the past, having 24 more pages than the 2009 edition. “We’re really hoping the student body will actually like and enjoy the book,” Co-Editor-in-Chief, junior Neda Talebi said. “I know many people weren’t happy with how many pictures were in the book, so this year it’s filled with photos. Last year, the book was separated by sections (i.e. sports, academics, etc.), however this year it’s organized by months, playing off the whole “2” theme, it is separated by every two months.” “We hope to get much better feedback than last year,” said Co-Editor-in-Chief Anna Cheban. Working under the trials and pressures of the final deadline crunch time, the staff worked hard to achieve completion of the book in its entirety. Editors focused on feedback received regarding last year’s yearbook, and took it into consideration during production. “The hardest thing we had to finish in such a short amount of time was the final insert of the book,” sophomore Titanium Section Editor Brianna Salmon said. “It was different for us (this year) because we didn’t have proofs to rely on, so we had to make sure every little detail was finished the first time around. My hope is that the students will really like it, and appreciate all the hard work we put into it all year long.” “I’m really proud of our staff this year,” Talebi said. “We pulled through in the end and we created an amazing book.” In celebration of final completion, the staff participated in their annual celebration tradition feast: Ding Dongs and sparkling cider – to be consumed in one swallow. “It’s something LeBlanc set up for us. It’s the tradition that will stay long after our staff is gone, and it’s the only time I will ever stuff an entire Ding-Dong in my mouth in my entire life,” Talebi said. “I’m really excited for the book to come out this year – it turned out well.
