By Zach Verhage

The fall 2010 season has proved to be another great season for the lady Trojan swim team. The swim team continues their success by winning all of their meets except for one loss and two ties. The girls plan to make another long run into the post season that includes state semis and finals on Nov. 19th and 20th. State qualifiers include Megan Vanderboon ‘13, Blair Cornell ‘13, Lindsey Weiderhold ‘12, Leah Vanderboon ‘11, Cameron Monroe ‘12, and Audrey Vanderboon ‘13. This is not out of the ordinary for the talented team. The last few years the Trojans have been in the elite tier of the state. "We work extremely hard in practice, and it shows when its time to swim. And yes, we are a cult!" said Teresa Thiel ‘13. The girls had a six year streak of never losing a duel meet. That ended this year, but that loss motivated the team to practice harder than before. Expect the girls to have a phenomenal run at a state championship. Last year, the team finished sixth, but don’t be surprised if they finish better than that this year. Although the team is losing arguably their best swimmer when Leah Vanderboon ‘11 graduates this year, they are still going to look strong next year. There are only two seniors graduating, and with their seven person freshman class and strong youth swim program, Plainwell swimming is looking stronger than ever.
