By Ken Li

Since December, HSTAT students have been pranking their peers in the school library. The pranksters distracted the victims. Then they took a book and put it in the victims’ book bag. The book then set the alarm on when the victim walked out of the library. Vincent Wu, a victim of the prank, was pranked recently. “No one really expected a book in their book bag,” said Wu, “Most of the time, students will end up getting pranked.” Victims were the center of attention when the book set the alarm off. Other students laughed at the victim or smiled. Witnesses, Mr. William Daniel, the school librarian, and John Cruz, a student at HSTAT, considered the prank a joke. “Done in a good fun,” said Daniel. “I laughed out loud,” said Cruz, “I knew the prank was all in good humor.” The victims were shocked and embarrassed when the alarm sounded. Sometimes even the victim laughed at this prank. “I was laughing the first time I got pranked,” said Wu, “Although it was an eye-catching moment, but it is also fun.” The prank was not considered a big issue, but if done too often and causes a disturbance, it would have to stop, Daniel warned. Daniel verbally warned students twice, but after that, students might lose the privilege to use the school library. “A joke is okay, but everyday it is not. If it gets annoying, they will lose privilege,” said Daniel, “Losing privilege is the last step to prevent this. I want them to understand that joke is okay to certain limit.” “I hope [it] continues,” stated Cruz, “The prank is amazing, it gets people in the library a [joyful] feeling.”
