Snow White and the Huntsman - June 3: A gritty, Lord of the Rings-esque version of the classic fairy tale, this film stars Kristin Stewart and Charlize Theron as the ill-fated princess and the evil queen, respectively. For you fairy-tale enthusiasts, it’s unknown how many liberties the film is taking with the original plot beyond what was shown in the trailer. However, the public opinion on this film is good, and fans wait with bated breath to see how Stewart handles her first big-budget post-Twilight film. Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter – June 22: An odd twist on the biography of one of America’s most famous presidents, this film follows the vampire-staking, garlic-wielding president battling bloodsucking confederates as they threaten the tide of the Civil War. While this odd plotline has some moviegoers scratching their heads, the plot is fresh and interesting and worth a watch. Who knows, maybe it’ll blast off at the box office like other underdogs in the past. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World – June 22: An apocalyptic comedy of world-ending proportions, this film follows the story of Dodge, played by Steve Carell, as he tries to relocate his high-school sweetheart as a meteor heading straight for Earth threatens to destroy the world. Joining him is Penny, played by Keira Knightly, his British-born neighbor who has some business of her own to conclude before the world ends. Like all of Carell’s movies, the comedy is sure to be good. While the hype for this film is relatively low, we still think it’s worth a watch. The Amazing Spider-Man – July 3: Starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, this high-school version of the masked web-slinger deals with how Peter Parker learned of his parents’ disappearance. A lot of fans are disappointed that Tobey Macguire isn’t playing the famous superhero, but with Emma Stone thrown in the mix you can’t really go wrong. None of the other spiderman movies have flopped at the ever fickle box office, so we can only assume that this newest addition to the comic book superhero won’t turn out any different. The Dark Knight Rises – July 20: By far the movie we are all the most excited for this summer, this next and last addition to the caped crusader’s films will reportedly end with a bang. Starring Christian Bale as Batman and introducing Anne Hathaway as the seductive, sly feline-themed cat burglar Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane, this finale to the Dark Knight trilogy will include all the necessary explosions and chase scenes that we’ve come to know and love, along with some extra thrills for good luck.
