It is, by far, the most popular reality show in existence, when 16-20 castaways are marooned on some “deserted” island and forced to survive the elements, as well as each other. Ever since August of 1999, Survivor has been a big hit, and nobody knows the show better than this man; Chillone. Chillone is known for his “Survivor Spoilers,” leaking information to the press about who gets voted off before the show even airs. He has been watching Survivor from the first season, because one of the contestants, Stacy Stillman, graduated from his high school. However, it was not until the 6th season, Survivor: The Amazon, when he found his new hobby. Chillone said “I had no set plans of spoiling Survivor. I was just at the right place at the right time.” He was conveniently vacationing in the Amazon during filming, and he says “being a big fan of the show, I started to ask the locals questions. When the answers started to flow, I continued to ask. All of a sudden I had tons of interesting information about the show…just weeks after production wrapped and over a month before the season was set to premiere. So, I decided to divulge my information on the internet.” So, where does he get all his information? Chill one said, “It’s actually pretty easy. Just befriending the locals. Whenever you film in an international location, you are required (from what I understand) to hire a certain percentage of locals to help with the production. Once you find those who are willing to talk, you get information.” This was when he decided to publish his findings, resulting in his first book “Spoiler; Revealing the Secrets of Survivor.” Chillone said “I’ve always had this personal goal of having something published in my lifetime…I was just waiting for the right opportunity.” All of his facts were surprisingly accurate. He predicted when every person would be voted off, and he was even able to predict the winner, Jenna. After his success, he decided to make this a permanent hobby, finding out the secret locations of future seasons and getting more secrets to entertain the masses. Chillone said “Sure, if Jenna had not won Survivor 6 my story would have been somewhat deflated, but I still think I would have written this book.” Aside from Survivor, Chillone says he is a J.J. Abrams fan, and enjoys shows such as Alias and Lost. But what does he find so intriguing about this hobby. Chill one said “Watching this all unfold was definitely my favorite part of the whole experience. A good amount of these social dynamics are captured in my book.” As for the latest installment of Survivor: Exile Island, Chillone was able to determine the seven of the top 9 contestants.
