By Tyre Carter

Dear Editor, “You’re not black, you’re white. You never dress black or act black.” Anyone who says that, could you please do me a solid? Go and ask any Latino, black or white. If they even know their history. “A man without knowledge of their past is like a tree with no roots.”-Marcus Garvey. It’s what’s in your mind, not what’s on your body. I was standing outside of school one day and I realized no one cares anymore. I can’t even relate to my own people because my mind’s somewhere else. We went from “We shall overcome”, to “lean wit it, rock wit it.” Would Huey Newton and Stokey Carmichael really be pleased with our generation? What happened? For anyone who comes on that you’re not black tip, really know what acting your color is before you speak one word. Sincerely, Tyre Carter
