By Ian Antipathy

When you see the cover of the game “Madworld” you can easily say that this game is of a rare variety for the Nintendo Wii. Many people have labeled the Wii to only have childish games. Well, this game proves them wrong one hundred and ten percent. Why is it? One reason may be that almost all the colours in this game are black, white, and red. What do you think the red colour is used for? This game would classify as an Ultra Violent game.
This game follows a very simple storyline. Jack (you) is an ex marine sent to “Varrigan City,” where terrorists have taken over the city forcing every living being to fight for their life in a sick and twisted game. But does Jack have any alternative intensions?
This game shows no mercy. And in no way should you feel mercy for any of these insane freaks walking around the city who are just waiting to kill you any chance they can get. So you have to take these guys down. However, the terrorists have set up some rules you need to play by. You kill; you get points; you move along. BUT!! It’s not that simple. The best way to get points to move on to the next phase you need to find the most hard core way to kill people. Yeah, you can go kill some guy but then you can also repeatedly impale some punk on a spiked wall repeatedly each hit worth more points. Trapping a punk in a garbage can then throwing him in a meat grinder is pretty pleasing too. So you get the point, kill people as gruesome as possible. After doing this you’ll be pleased with your life. If that wasn’t enough violence for you throughout a level a challenge will appear for you. These challenges are like mini games. An example of this is a game where you must throw as many of your adversaries into a pit which periodically has a huge block of concrete fall down splattering any unfortunate people who were within range. This killing will leave you wanting to find new ways to kill those unfortunate punks who made the mistake of messing with you.
One of the best things about this game is the very interactive controls it features. Swing the wiimote to either use a hard punch or hold down the B button to whip out a chainsaw and tear through your opponent. You can pick up the enemy and swing them around in circle by moving the wiimote. All these interactive controls enhance the fun.
The graphics in this game are very unique. The game is set in a black and white Similar to agraphic novel. The only other colours are the word bubbles that appear when fighting, such as BLAM, and BOOM. The game is done in three dimensional graphics. When you first think about it you may wonder, “How can you play using a three D system with only white and black.” However the black and white colours do not make it hard to traverse the map. These unique graphic styles set a rare perspective in modern gaming.
The music in this game consists mainly of the rap type music. That is also including actual lyrics. Some people like myself should just turn down the music. The lyrics also make it hard to understand the announcers’ rather strange yet very funny comments.
The release of this game has stirred controversy of the Nintendo Wii being a “Family game system.” Some groups have said they’re disappointed to let a game as violent as this to be released. Nintendo commented that the Wii was not just made for one type of audience. Nintendo said that the Wii was made for anyone to enjoy and that includes the older audience.
Looking at this game like this it’s obvious that it’s for the older audience. The game is fun to play for awhile. You’ll spend hours take down hordes of bloodthirsty punks. I would suggest it to any gamer who isn’t a sissy when it comes to violence.
