By Savanna Whitten

Brooke Washington
Cory Thaxton and Chloe Henington rehearse their solos for their performance at the orientation.

After being the top dogs for a year, next year’s seventh grade class goes back to being the underdogs, and on Wednesday April 29 th , they got a taste of what that will be like when they entered OJHS for Sixth Grade Orientation and scheduling.

When the students walked into the auditorium, they were greeted by the sounds of the Ouachita Cubs’ Choir, previewing their Spring Concert music. Afterwards, Mrs. Baker welcomed the students to the school and told them what the plans were for the day.

After that, the students were led into the gym for a mini pep rally. The 2009-2010 cheerleaders, Kit Kats and Color Guard were introduced. The 2008-2009 cheerleaders and Kit Kats performed for the students. The sixth graders were really excited then!

Afterwards, each school (Lakeshore, Swartz, and Jack Hayes) was led to a different part of the school for a tour. Each group was led to the rec area for questions with Coach Wright, the stadium and weight room for a tour with Coach Bartlett and Coach Fandall, and then the cafeteria for scheduling with Mrs. Short.

All in all, the day was a success and the sixth graders can’t wait for Junior High!
