           For the
year of 2008, El Segundo Middle School has a great way for students to become
“student athletes.”    A student athlete is
a name for students who play a sport of dance, but spend more time on their
education.

           El Segundo
Middle School is a great place for students to learn how to play or get better
at many sports.    The variety of sports
includes the ESMS Golf Club or Physical Education (P.E.).    In P.E., the middle school students learn how
to keep healthy and get active playing fun sports that all grades can
enjoy!    The El Segundo Middle School is a
great way for students to get active, and healthy.

           During
Physical Education, students will have a chance to play sports.    These sports (or units) are going to be flag
football, ultimate frisbee, frisbee golf, soft lacrosse, soccer, dance or step
aerobics, basketball, volleyball, softball, and many more fun activities.    One thing that is important about sports
and/or athletic activities is health.    In
P.E. students will learn how to eat healthy.
In Physical Education, students will learn how to eat healthy and have a
healthy diet.    Physical Education is a
great subject or way to learn and play sports.

           In
addition, 25 students were asked the question: What is your favorite sport to
play?    El Segundo Middle School students
like “other” more than the choices of baseball or softball, football, hockey,
soccer, and volleyball.

           A total of
25 middle school students are surveyed and 42% of the surveyed chose
“other.”    A pretty large amount chose
baseball or softball with a total of 24%.
Soccer had the next highest at 16% and the penultimate percentage had
10%, and that was football.    For last,
volleyball and hockey had 4%.    ESMS
students’ favorite sport is “other”.
