 6th GRADE BEAT

         2008 El
Segundo Middle School 6th graders got to take a survey on some questions that
they were asked to them.    It gave the 6th
graders a great way to learn about and think how they could think of somethings
that they don’t like about 6th grade.

         One of the
questions that was asked is “If you could change one thing about 6th grade what
would it be?”    This was a comment that
one of the 6th graders that was asked.
“One thing that I would want change is, when we get from our break, I
don’t want to have to go back to the same classes.”    The reporter asked why he doesn’t want to and
he said “Well, I just want to have one teacher for one period.”

          Also,
another question was “Do you think that the school day is to long or to
short?    All the kids said to long but
couldn’t give any reasoning, except one.
One said that she thinks that we get to much homework and when she
starts, she doesn’t have enough time to finish it because she has usually two
practices a day for soccer and softball, so its hard to have such a long school
day.

           Did you
think that sixth grade would be better, the same, or worse?    Most students put better and all of gave a
reason this time.    Most students put
better for two reasons.    One of the
reasons was because they thought that the 8th graders were going to bully
them.    So far no body has bullied by
them.    Another reason why is, after every
period.
    All in all the
students of 6th grade have different opinion about changing 6th grade.
