By Kayli Settles

In 10 years, I would like to be graduated from college. In 10 years, I will not be married, but in a stable relationship. In 10 years, I would like to have the things that most people want out of life: a nice house in a nice neighborhood; a nice car. Easier said than done. To accomplish these decade-long goals, I must complete the following: Work hard in school. Stay on task. Focus on my grades. Again — easier said than done. Especially for me. Toward the end of the year, I really start to lose focus and I slack off. In all honesty, I did this not only at the end of this year, but the entire year. I can honestly say that my freshman year was my worst year so far. That’s not a good thing — especially if I’m going to meet my 10-year goals. You know, many people just pass over that question, “where do you want to be in 10 years?” I obviously have as well. I think I sometimes forget to stop and really think about this question. It’s actually really important. Everything you do know will play a part in where you will be 10 years from this very moment. So again, accomplish the following: Work hard in school. Stay on task. Focus on your grades. These will play big roles in where you — like me — will be when we meet again in 10 years.
