By Charles Dobry

- Hoover faced the Indians of Northwest in the basketball scrimmages between the Federal League and the Northeast Buckeye Conference with the proceeds going to Hoops 4 Healing. The organization promotes research for liver disease, such as the condition known as primary schlerosing cholangitis. Hoover traveled to Northwest Nov. 24 for their scrimmage, when the girls played, then the boys. Other matchups included: Alliance at GlenOak, Perry at Carrollton, Minerva at Jackson, Marlington at Lake, Boardman at West Branch, Louisville at Fitch and McKinley at Canton South. - Even with the softball season not beginning until March, one Hoover softball player is in the news. Senior third baseman and shortstop Alex Marcantonio has signed a letter-of-intent to play softball for Kent State University. Marcantonio has been a starter for the varsity softball team since her freshman season. She was a part of the 2008 Division 1 State Championship team. Marcantonio had an average of .480 last season and was named a member of the All-Ohio second team by the Ohio Softball Coaches Association.
