By Alan. P

Mr. Hartmann, who is the assistive technology teacher, is also the high school track team coach along with the animation teacher Ms. Learn. Mr. Hartmann is confident that the team will place highly in the finals. He was very satisfied with the team's performance last year, especially considering how small the team was. Last year the team was fourth place out of seven schools. The team is currently training well and everybody is dedicated. The team is doing well athletically at the moment, but could use more female runners. In addition, Grace Bretheren was a difficult opponent last year, but the team almost defeated them. The team's best events were the 400m and the 1600m. When asked if he was a competitive runner, Mr. Hartmann said, "I did not run track in high school or college, but I played baseball in high school." In order to succeed this season the team needs to practice running a lot. The team practices twice per week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00pm at American University. Mr. Hartmann believes that the team will succeed, but he said, "it is still too early to tell how well the team will do overall." Ms. Learn added, "I don't know how well the team will do, it is too early to tell and we have not seen the competition yet."
