By Mikey Morgan (Page Editor)

Your next Grand Theft Auto [GTA] title and Madden title might be published and developed by the same company. Electronic Arts [EA], a powerhouse video game publisher/developer has pondered on purchasing the industries most reliable developer, Rockstar [developers of GTA Max Payne, etc] by striking at its source, Take2. On February 6th EA proposed $25 per share to Take2 [which estimates to be $1.9 billion] in exchange for owning Rockstar. “We can achieve bottom line benefits by combing Take2 and EAs corporate infrastructures,” CEO of EA John Riccitiello [said on letter to Executive chairman of Take2 posted on GamePolitics.com]. Take2 has not made a move yet in its response. “We have remained open to considering a business combination with interested parties at the right time and the right place,” Take2 executive chairman Strauss Zalnick [said on GamePolitics.com]. Some SLz students are excited by this possible merging. “This could have potential for good. EA has a lot of good game engines,” Senior Iris Pegarro said. However, it still remains unknown if a merging is eminent until the day after GTA 4 ships into emission on April 29th, where boards of both companies will further discuss their future together. “Once GTA 4 ships, Take2 will again be dependant on less popular titles and face increasing challenges to compete with better capitalized competitors,” CEO John Richitiello [said in GamePolitics.com] Recently EA had taken over other influential-innovative developers such as Bioware and Pandemic studios, which composed successful games with their unique and captivating storytelling. “I don’t like the idea of large companies buying up smaller ones,” Business teacher Rick Charles stated. Through this quiet period both companies are tight lipped, so take this time for your beloved games from Take2 and think of all the possibilities…. Daydream over. “If I was in take2, I would take the deal,” Junior Felix Quanch said.
