By Boaz Witbeck

The prom 2009 experience at the Venue was a momentous event that will be put in my mental scrapbook of high school memories (and maybe I will put some pictures in a real scrapbook too).
As a senior who decided not to attend the last prom due to busyness and laziness (irony), I was looking forward to spending time with interesting people, dancing my butt off with my date, and hopefully laughing a lot with friends.
I honestly do not enjoy dancing too much, mostly because the music played by past DJs is usually not my style. Dancing is much more fun when I laugh at myself amongst friends.
I did love the Venue and how it looked like a street in New Orleans with a pool hall, a cantina and a second floor to focus on the prom royalty nominees.
Reflecting on my overall prom experience, all of the above expectations were fulfilled, more or less, but what I will remember most was the unexpected: getting my first car, driving with my date while singing “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga and buying slurpees (and gasoline) at 7-Eleven when my car almost ran out of gas.
