Prom Night... Oh Yeah!!

http://my.hsj.org/schools/newspaper/tabid/100/view/frontpage/schoolid/1420/articleid/277178/prom_night_oh_yeah.aspx

By Rudy DeStefano

What is the biggest dance at Ringgold High School? Some might say the Christmas dance or the Homecoming dance. The real answer to that question is the Prom. Everyone spends a massive amount of money, picks out the nicest dresses or tuxes, and the guys pick out pretty flowers for the girls. The Prom is a big deal not only here at Ringgold, but also all of the high schools around the valley and nation.
Getting asked to prom is a big deal for the girls. They always wonder who is going to ask them and if they like them. Sometimes girls do not like the person they get asked by and they have to make up an excuse not to go with them. From what I understand, girls go through a rigorous series of events to get ready for prom. They have to find the perfect dress, get their hair done perfect, get nice jewelry to wear, and make herself look beautiful for that special night.
From a guy’s perspective, Prom is not that very big of a deal. The guy just worries about how much money he will have left over when it’s all done. The roughest part of Prom for a guy is asking a girl to go with him. Denial is such a hard thing to get over. When a guy gets turned down by the girl he asks, the effects are devastating. Now he has to go with someone that he does not really want to go with, but he goes with her just to go to Prom. For guys Pro is a pocket burner. The guy has to pay for his own and his dates tickets and limo fees. He also has to pay for his tux and flowers for the girl.
When Prom night is finally here, it is full of pictures, dancing, and fun. Before Grand March you meet at someone’s house to get the limo. There are many pictures taken by the parents and friends. Next stop is Grand March here at Ringgold High School. This is where all the parents and family members get to see you and your date all dressed up. After Grand March is over, we make our way to the Prom. When we get there we instantly take a picture then we go inside and eat. When dinner is over, whatever happens after that is all up to you. All in all Prom is a fun thing to do and you are with all of your friends. Yes, relationships are made or broken, but things like this happen throughout the night. Then the “After Prom”…That’s another story.
