You can't help smiling when she walks into the room. The girl that screams attitude, kickin’ it in Converse and a tank top. Her energy is infectious and is enough to brighten anyone’s day. We have a lot of characters at North County High School, but I think it's safe to say there is only ONE Mikayla McKenzie. If you have yet to meet Mikayla, check the choir room. Nine times out of ten, you will find her there. She has been part of North County's choir since her freshman year, and now she's back ready to sing in senior status. On the off chance you don't find her in the music hall, she's probably hiding behind the latest young adult novel. Reading has always been a hobby of hers, and writing is one of her many talents. I sat in front of her in seventh grade math, and I loved reading her latest poems and listening to her sing silly songs. Putting her talents to work, Mikayla is writing for our newspaper this year. I got the chance to catch up with her, and I heard all about her boyfriend Jake, whom she absolutely adores. She plans for eighteen kids. I know what you're thinking, but she’s not crazy! She’s an angel. Mikayla plans to adopt all but three of her own. What I admire most about Mikayla is how she is always thinking of others. She puts everyone before herself, which is why her plan to be a social worker suits her perfectly. Mikayla is a strong and independent girl, and she has been since I have known her. She stands up for what she believes in, and it doesn’t matter who’s watching or who’s judging; she’s always one-hundred percent pure Mikayla McKenzi.
