Goodbye, Mr. Stehle

By Lauren Harris

Mr. Thomas Stehle at this year's graduation ceremony.

Sadly for all whom he has affected, Mr. Stehle will be retiring at the end of the 2005 school year. The students who were lucky enough to have Mr. Stehle as a guidance counselor, and even those who weren’t, can recognize his dedication to his job. Mr. Stehle has worked in the Goshen School District for 21 years and has been the head of the guidance department for 9 years. He has positively influenced countless people, both students and teachers. Mr. Stehle will definitely be missed by all the members of the Goshen High School. Our gratitude for his hardwork was expressed in the dedication of the 2004-2005 yearbook to Mr. Stehle. Mr. Stehle plans on relaxing, first and foremost, once he has retired. He also wants to travel, particularly to visit friends in England and Hawaii. In addition, Mr. Stehle is very involved in the American Theatre Organ Society, of which he is the secretary. With this organization he repairs and maintains organs. This commitment keeps him extremely busy. When Mr. Stehle first went to an interview with the superintendent at the time, he found that he was destined for this job. The superintendent said to Mr. Stehle that he was the first person that he had ever interviewed who would be able to identify his paperweight, a part of an organ. The superintendent happened to be an organ buff as well. Mr. Stehle correctly identified the piece. This was a good omen for the future career that lay ahead for him. Mr. Stehle had only nice things to say about his time working in the Goshen Schools. “It is an amazing place. There are so many great people, between the students, faculty, and staff. It is a very friendly and welcoming place. Working at Goshen has been a marvelous experience, and I’m going to miss everyone.”
