			<title><![CDATA[Sports Briefs]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ <div class='ArticleAuthor'>By Intro Students</div><br>Varsity Girls Tennis-  The team won the WSC championship for the second year in a row. This season was also the second year that the team finished undefeated in the conference.  Varsity Girls Tennis- Second Team-  The team finished the season with an overall record of 7-5. The team bonded a lot this year and had a good time.  JV Girls Tennis-  The girls finished their season off well by winning the JV WSC tournament. The team had many wins this season even though they were considered underdogs.  Varsity Girls Soccer-  With a record of 6-4-3, the team begins the season well with their first victory over Bay Village in 18 years. Head coach Patrick Hopkins hopes to win the conference by finishing strong and getting into a playoff atmosphere now.  JV A Girls Soccer-  Freshman goalie Christina Conway and leading scorer Stephanie Davis have been playing outstandingly well and contributing to the teams 9- 0- 1 record.  JV B Girls Soccer-  This is the first year the girls soccer program has had three teams.  JV B has a record of 2-5-1. Coach Lisa Lesh hopes to win the rest of the games by building from where they started.  Girls Golf-  The team finished second in the WSC and fifth at sectionals just 12 strokes short of being in fourth and qualifying to go on to the state championship.]  Boys Golf-  Finishing with a total record of 8-8, the team tied for fourth in the WSC. Coach Tom Thompson hopes the team will advance to sectionals.  Varsity Boys Soccer-  The team’s record is 3-3-3. Seniors Barry Geopfert and Arif Hajro have been recognized as having outstanding performances.  JV Boys Soccer-  This season’s most memorable game for the team was at home against Lake Catholic. The team tied 2-2.  Varsity Volleyball-  On Sept. 23, the volleyball team participated in Volley for the Cure with Avon High School’s varsity team. The game was at home, and the team won in five games. The two teams raised roughly $1200 for breast cancer research. The team also finished third at the Rocky River Invitational and second at the Midview Invitational. According to captain Maureen Kessler, the team’s goals for the rest of the season include winning the rest of their games and advancing far into the district tournament.  JV Volleyball-  According to volleyball player Jacqueline Pyros, this year the team has been working on playing as a whole and as not individuals on the court.  As far as performances go, sophomore Kara Emery has been recognized for stepping up her game when a teammate had mono.  Freshman Volleyball-  The team won their game against North Ridgeville on Sept. 17 in two games. According to volleyball player Heidi Olander, freshman Jane Dickey has proven herself as a good setter. The team this season is working very hard on better passing and communication on the court.  Girls Cross  Country-  According to coach Laura Brabant, most of the runners have broken their personal records.   Junior Brittney Towner also has come back terrificly this season after tearing her ACL last summer.  Boys Cross Country-  The team is having a very successful season under the guidance of coach Kevin Kelley.  Junior Tommy Eldrige and sophomore Eric Stoddard have proven to be two of the top runners in Cleveland.   Varsity Football-  The team had a memorable game agaisnt Westlake on Sept. 5. The game went into double overtime with the Pirates coming out on top winning by one. The team hopes to finish the season with a record of 7-3.  Freshmen Football-  Although the team has a record of 0-6, the boys hope to improve on their offense during the rest of the season.
