By Megin Gunther

Yahoo

If you are a junkie for scary ghost movies, The Woman in Black is the movie to see. A widowed lawyer, Arthur Kipps, makes a trip to an old English town to find out more information about a recently deceased eccentric. The house that he has to go is an old mansion that is surrounded by marshy waters, and when high tide comes in there is no way to leave. Kipps later finds out that the house has a haunting entity that particularly haunts and hurts children. A home viewing might not have the same the effect, but in theaters the movie was one that kept you on the edge of your seat. The music is what always gets everyone (or just me) the most, especially when something sudden happens and all you hear is a loud noise in your ear. Seeing kids in scary movies are the absolute worst and the creepiest things ever, not only when the children are alive, but when they are dead and come back as ghosts. Unfortunately for me, the whole movie was based on how the children in the town would die because of this “woman in black.” When watching the movie, it is so confusing and a little bit boring because nothing happens for a while, but as soon as you find out the whole story, it is actually really good. If there were different ways for the children to die and explained why the woman would make them die it would have been more understandable. Also, It was too weird watching Daniel Radcliffe act as something other than Harry Potter. Although I am not a huge Harry Potter fan it was just different, I guess, to see him in a scary movie. He needs to stick to the suspenseful fantasy movies and not the scary ghostly movies. When the ghost started to haunt him, I kept thinking he was gonna pull out a wand and cast a spell on her. A spell somewhat “ Expecto Patronum” to protect himself from the ghost. Personally the previews were much scarier than the actual movie, they set the mood for the movie making it scarier than it should have been. If I were to watch it again I would actually be able to leave my eyes open. But still, just remember, “During afternoon tea, there’s a shift in the air. A bone-trembling chill that tells you she’s there. There are those who believe the whole town is cursed. But the house in the marsh is by far the worst. But she wants is unknown, but she always comes back. The specter of darkness, the Woman in Black.”
