By Adam Byron and Chris Michaud

Adam Byron

 High School
students and computers are an inseparable bond, especially with all
of the fun things to do on the net.

 Many social
networking sites such as Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter have become a
way of life for students.

 A recent survey
showed that 43% of students spend most of their time on the computer
listening to music and visiting social networking sites. Only
13% responded that they spend most of their time on the computer
doing school work.

 Also, 56% of the
students surveyed own a desktop, whereas 42% said they use a laptop
and another 2% said they don’t have a computer at all.

 Another question
showed that 20% of the students said that they have a computer in
their rooms. The other 78% don’t’ have their own computer and 2%
don’t have a computer .

 Sophomore Jason
Keohane said, “I use the computer mostly for Facebook, on average I
use the computer for a half hour to an hour a day.”

 Senior Derek Nutter
said that he uses the computer “mostly to check ESPN.com and
sometimes Facebook.” He went on to explain that using the computer
for educational purposes “doesn’t really work out because I’ll
end up browsing the internet looking at sports.”
