By Allie Lombardi

Tyngsboro Softball has set their logistics for spring this year by overcoming their 2-17 record from last years season.
With a new coach, new captains, and promising freshman; this could be a better season for the Tigers.

The returning starters from the 2008 team: Melissa Achilles, Joanie Emerson, Katie Tassi, Chyenne Brown, and Laura Milot as well as their pitching and catching combo of Melanie Freitas and Alyssa Varanoski have set the field for a better season in 2009.

The new coach has made an effort to build a better and stronger team even with the small amount of players.
“The conditioning is tough. She's a personal trainer which is really difficult,” expressed Laura Milot, the teams third baseman, about new coach Lynn Keenan.

The team had different techniques of more batting and catching last year, and this year it is more drills and teamwork.
In an interview with the Lowell Sun Varsity Coach Keenan stated,” This team looks promising, although we are young and inexperienced. We’ll go out and play our best.”

Several of the girls have played together for years, but the new additions to the team could add some more flavor. A new pitcher, Meghan McKinney will be starting her high school softball career on the varsity level which could add a new
perspective.Seven other lower-house students have also made the team.

New talent brings new challenges, but according to Keenan, “Once the kids gain a little experience, I think we’ll be OK.”
