       While driving drunk is still as dangerous as ever, there are less people taking the wheel impaired over the years, meaning that more people are being responsible about how they drink.         In 1982, alcohol related traffic deaths were 60% of all accidents that year.  In 2005, it was down to 39%.  Deaths per mile driven have also dropped dramatically: 1.64 deaths per 100 million miles traveled in 1982, all the way down to .56 in 2005.        The overall drop in alcohol related deaths since 1982 is 35%.  People are being more responsible about partying and driving after drinking, but we can still do better.
