Themed “Viva Las Vegas”, more than 1100 students came dressed to impress in their best semi-formal attire Sept. 15, in the courtyard for the anual Homecoming dance. As students entered, they walked through a large arch, which resembled a roulette table, and playing cards were scattered throughout on the ground. “The homecoming dance looked really awesome,” says Gavin Brown, junior. A lot of the ladies were dressed in different shades of red to coordinate with the theme. Guys were dressed in shades of black, blue, and gray. Everyone seemed to be dancing with their friends with their own unique styles to some of the most popular songs like, “Grease Lightining” and “Get Low”. “I really liked the theme,” says Kelsey St. Germain, sophomore. Kimberley Waithe, junior, didn’t agree with all the music that was played, including songs such as “Barbie Girl”, and “The Macarena”. “I think that some of the music was really good, but there were songs that were really dumb,” added Waithe. Student Council’s sophomore class devoted much time and effort into the dance preparations. “The kids did a great job this year and sacrificed personal time,” commented Ms. Shannon Anderson, sophomore class sponsor. “Many of them had to sacrifice dinner and extra time to get ready for the dance, just to decorate,” she said. One of the biggest differences at this year’s Homecoming dance was the refreshments. Water w sold for a dollar and complimentary cookies were available. “I was so glad when they served refreshments, because they hadn’t for the past two years at homecoming,” said Andrea Thomas, junior. Homecoming was topped of with the dance between seniors, Odasha Johnson and Tony Bonse. Better known as queen and king. “It was so cute,” Waithe said. “It made the night that much more magical.
