By Hannah Milton

The Falcons boys basketball team finally showed the improvement we have been seeing building up. They came out strong in all three games in the Flint Hills Tournament in January. The boys went up against the Lyndon Tigers, the Mission Valley Vikings, and the Northern Heights Wildcats. The Falcons’ first game was a 48-46 victory against Lyndon. Seniors Lucas Humerickhouse and Bryant Harmon were the leading scorers. Humerickhouse had 13 points followed by Harmon with 12. The Mission Valley game was a real nail-biter with a foul-line shot to take the boys into overtime with a 56-48 win. The Falcons got into foul trouble but were able to overcome that in overtime by outshooting the Vikings 12-4. Leading the Falcons in scoring was Trey Wadkins and Tyler Nitcher, both scoring 12 each. Bryant Harmon followed with 11 points. Northern Heights was a different story for the Falcons. They definitely came out strong but got hot headed in the fourth quarter getting two technical fouls and two intentional fouls. The boys played hard the whole game switching the lead back and forth. The final score was 61-54. Head coach Jason Nelson said that boys were, “Playing more confident, playing well as a team, being assertive, setting the tone, and making other teams play with us instead of us playing with them.”
