Hayden on the horizon for Lady Vikes

http://my.hsj.org/schools/newspaper/tabid/100/view/frontpage/schoolid/2341/articleid/277608/hayden_on_the_horizon_for_lady_vikes.aspx

By Christina Butler

The Lady Vikes will be hitting the field today in an away game against Ottawa.
Junior Lindsay Larkin said, “[This season] I learned that communication is everything in a game, and if there isn’t enough, you’re not going to be successful.”
After the team’s triumphant victory in their first game of the season against Maranatha the Lady Vikes were unable to beat the girls from Blue Valley losing 1 to 2. “[Losing a games] is especially tough since it is senior year. We have a lot of talent but just hasn’t clicked yet, we are getting there,” said Abbey Brown, senior.
The girls came back winning 5 to 1 at their next game against the Lansing Lions.
“My favorite memory so far was on a cold practice Lynn [Cook] and I wore Snowbibs, the big black ones to go skiing in. Mine was baby small. Hilarious,” said Brown.
On April 9th the team played against Cair Paravel, but the game was rained out. The girls lost against Washburn Rural 0-3. “[When we lose] it’s upsetting because we could have played better, but we work on it and fixed what we did wrong,” said Kasey Hiltgen, sophomore.
The girls made a comeback winning their next games. On April 17 they beat Manhattan, 1-0. When they played De Soto, the game went into two overtimes tying 2-2. Winning 1-0 against Emporia sent the team into a winning streak.
“I learned great teamwork, to talk and encourage the girls. It helps get our spirits up,” said freshman Kayla Arvdison.
Junction City was the next opponent of the team and they won 10 to 0.
Up next on the schedule, the Lady Vikes will play another game against Hayden. Lindsay Larkin says, “[My favorite game] is going to be Hayden. It’s always a tough and competitive game.”
