Seniors say goodbye to memories

http://my.hsj.org/schools/newspaper/tabid/100/view/frontpage/schoolid/2341/articleid/277611/seniors_say_goodbye_to_memories.aspx

By Dakota Gordon

Walking down the Seaman High School hallways on that August day in 2006, hundreds of excited sophomores entered the auditorium. Never did these students think that they would see the day they would finally be able to count the days in single digits when they could finally call themselves high school graduates.
Graduating high school means saying goodbye to many memories and people we have grown up with practically our whole lives, teachers and peers alike.
“I will miss many of the people at Seaman,” says senior Calee Atkinson. “Especially the football land basketball games when everyone went all out.” Memories like these are those to cherish for a lifetime. High school is a place for learning and growing, and there is no doubt that every senior walks out of this building feeling much different than their first day as a sophomore.
Never will one senior forget any high school moment from their first spirit day to their first detention they received because they decided to hit the snooze button one too many times.
“My favorite memory would have to be all the basketball games where we would dress up, even if we got in trouble,” says Atkinson.
High school is the one time in our lives that we can be reckless while still being under the protection of our parents. Saying goodbye to this time period can be tough on anyone because one must realize while we are being pushed into the real world, we must grow up also.
“Surround yourself with everyone you care about and make sure to leave on good terms,” advises Akinson to students who plan on leaving after high school.
Throughout this four year
adventure of our lives, there are many memories that will never be forgotten. As we close the book on this chapter of our lives, we will remember the best friends we gained and lost, cheering for our team at the Homecoming football game, and even gaining the nerve to ask that special someone to the dance. All which have formed us to be the young adults we have become today.
