By Denisse Sandoval

Po-Hi DECA recently hosted the 2005 Entrepreneurship Career Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Hutchins Auditorium. The career fair was open to Po-Hi juniors and seniors, Tonkawa students and Teen Prep students. Some of the businesses that came and spoke to students included Northern Eye Clinic, Grace Memorial Chapel, different branches of the military, Edwin Fair, Mertz, Inc. and the Ponca City Literacy Council. National DECA Week was celebrated from Oct. 10 - Oct. 14. DECA was assimilated in 1959. Every state by 1969 had a DECA association with competitive events adjusted by the 1960s. To celebrate National DECA Week, a question was asked over the intercom during announcements about certain things pertaining to DECA. Students who answered correctly had their names placed in a box and drawn to win a prize. Po-Hi DECA officers were also initiated to their office on Tuesday, Oct. 11. DECA members awoke quite early on Oct. 18 to head out on their annual trip to Dallas, to get a real life setting on how marketing is used in everyday life. On their first day, they toured the Ameriquest Field and Museum in Arlington, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Ft. Worth. They also visited the Galleria Mall in Dallas, where they spoke with the marketing representative there and had some time on their own. On their second day, their agenda consisted of touring the Dallas Market, speaking with the marketing representative of Speedzone and riding thrilling go-carts and talking with the marketing representative of the Gainsville Outlet Mall in Gainsville.
