			<description><![CDATA[ <div class='ArticleAuthor'>By Brittney Hatton</div><br>This week in history:  Oct. 17, 1989- an earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit San Francisco. 63 were killed and 3,000 were injured. It only lasted for 13 seconds.  Oct. 18, 1931-Thomas Edison died in West Orange, New Jersey at the age of 84.  Oct.19, 1982-John DeLorean was arrested in Los Angeles with a briefcase containing $24 million worth of cocaine.  Oct. 20, 1930-Sherlock Holmes debuted on the radio and ran until 1956.  Oct. 21, 1967-100,000 people rallied in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Violence erupted. 683 people were arrested.  Oct. 22, 1962-JFK announced that U.S. spy planes had discovered Soviet missile bases in Cuba. Thus, the Cuban Missile Crisis was born.   Oct. 23,1971-Disney World opened in Orlando, Fla., 16 years after Disneyland opened in Anaheim,Calif. ]]></description>
