By Bobbie Black

It seems like we are born and raised in high school. We’ve gone through a lot of defining moments in this building. First loves, first heartbreaks, best friends, betrayals all in between the 6 classes we are suppose to be here for. It’s been our access to new styles, trends, music, and movies. We live listening through the grape vines. Now we have to grow up. We have to move out, pay rent, get jobs, meet new people, and find our own way. The Vitamin C song really doesn’t prepare you for this moment. Some are going to be able to stretch the umbilical cord all the way to school and have their parents financially support them; others are on their own, time to sink or swim.
We are no longer students, we are citizens. There are no dress codes, just indecent exposure, no warnings, just lessons, no detention, just jail time.
Who am I becomes who I am; we are going to find our way. June 10 th is the first day of the rest of our lives. Fingers crossed we succeed in all our different ventures.
So congratulations class of 2009, we did it.
