         How many of you would like to visit beautiful cities in Italy like Rome, Florence, Pompei and Capri? Well, three of our teachers – Mrs. Cofta (art teacher) Mr. Nagel (computer teacher) and Ms. Rommereim (art teacher) were lucky enough to experience this trip over the February break along with five fortunate students who were:  Amanda White, Amanda Coutain, Shemika Thomas, Anita Guo and Adriana Munoz.      As we all know, Rome is known for its historical landmarks. They went to the Coliseum and the Forum (the square or plaza of ancient Rome). They visited places like churches and museums, such as the Sistine Chapel, which was painted by Michelangelo.      “Italy was an amazing experience,” said Amanda White. “I had lots of fun and enjoyed the Italian people and history.”      The teachers and the students even had time to visit the catacombs – a place with underground tombs. Mrs. Cofta said, “The trip was very educational, and the tour guide was a big help.”      When asked which was her favorite piece of art, Mrs. Cofta said, “In St. Peter’s (church), there is a marble statue of Mary holding Jesus as he is dying (The Pietà).”      It’s not every day we get to experience the wonders that other countries have to offer.
