Washington D.C. Art Club Trip

By Katie Franklin

On March 19th the art club left for Washington D.C. with high hopes for a fun and adventure throughout their trip. The thirty seven kids woke up bright and early ready for the three hour bus ride to one of the most historic cities in the United States. The art club went on a tour of the White House. For most of the students it was a once in a life time experience, especially for senior Theresa Gloeggler, who is an exchange student from Germany! In D.C. there were many historic buildings and art museums that the art club had a chance to pick from. They went to museums such as The Smithsonian Museum, Spy Museum, and Holocaust Museum. They also went on a Segway tour of D.C. and came into contact with hundreds of people protesting the war! This protest was called “The March on Washington”. At the protest people sold pins with peaceful sayings and flags with peace signs on it. It was a very powerful moment, something that most people do not get to experience. A more calming experience that the students experienced was the peaceful view of Old Town Alexandria. Old Town Alexandria is a colonial town in Virginia that is filled with shops and restaurants. Many would agree that it was the most beautiful site of the trip. Overall, the students enjoyed their time in Washington. Without Mrs.Ringler, this trip could not be made possible. Thank you Mrs.Ringler and all the other chaperons that accompanied the thirty seven students to Washington D.C.
