  Trinity’s baseball team took to the field against the Ryle High School Raiders. In this matchup, the bats were quiet due to good pitching on both sides.   The Rocks escaped with a 1-0 win. In the bottom of the sixth, the Shamrocks made a pitching change by putting Ben Fuchs in to close the game. Fuchs finished the game by sitting three Ryle batters down on strikes and getting three others down by either popping out or grounding out. There was a scary moment when a foul ball hit one of the Ryle players. He was down for a couple of minutes but toughened it out to make his plate appearance. In the top of the first it looked like the Rocks were going to get a quick run when Andrew Bowling hit a line drive into the right center field gap, hustling around to third base for a triple. The Ryle pitching held strong as the Rocks stranded Bowling at third. Defensively, the Rocks got on and off the field rather quickly due to Matt Tewell’s dominant outing, striking out two batters in five innings with no runs given up. "Matt’s performance really gave us the opportunity to win," said Nick Porter, one of the Shamrocks’ other starting pitchers. The Raiders had one chance to score in the bottom of the fourth inning when they had runners on first and second with two outs. The ball was hit into shallow left center field, and the third base coach aggressively sent the runner home, but Bowling threw a strike to catcher Dylan Ramser, nailing the runner at the plate. In the top of the sixth the first and only run of the game was scored. Third baseman Anthony Armstrong hit a double, then was advanced to third base on a bunt by Chris Berry. Armstrong stole home on a wild pitch by Ryle starting pitcher Daisuke Imai. "Matt Tewell threw strikes and kept Ryle off balance. We were making solid contact with the ball, but they just weren’t dropping," Armstrong said. "We kept hitting and got the one we needed. We did what we had to do to get the go-ahead run in." "It was a good win against a quality opponent," first baseman Corey Littrell said. "It wasn’t our best performance offensively, but a win’s a win," Porter said. Later on in the afternoon, the Rocks played in the second game of their doubleheader against the Male Bulldogs.
