By Stephanie Valluzzo ’10

Is there something in the water in the teachers' room? This year at Brookfield High School, Mrs. Lapham, Mrs. Leblier, Mrs. Abraham, Mrs. Zaleski (Green), all history teachers, and Mrs. Plourde, an English teacher, have been pregnant. Mrs. Lapham and Mrs. Plourde are currently on maternity leave while Mrs. Leblier and Mrs. Abraham are going to finish out the year to take their leave next year. Mrs. Lapham had her baby on May 16 and she named him Thomas Scott. Danny James Zaleski was born December 14 and looks just like his dad. Mrs. Leblier is due in July, and Mrs. Abraham is due in September. Mrs. Leblier will be return for the second semester of next year and Mrs. Abraham will be returning the following year. Mrs. Plourde is currently on maternity leave and will be returning in September. Mrs. Plourde had a boy in February and she named him Peyton. She says that becoming a mom is the coolest thing that she has ever experienced. She also said that she loves to watch her soon change everyday and that it as amazing. Mrs. Plourde also says that she misses teaching here at the high school with all of her students. Mrs. Abraham says that she and her husband are ecstatic to be expecting their first child. She said that her and her and her husband waited to start a family until they traveled around the world, and now that she is pregnant it is completely different experience knowing that everything that she is eating and doing is affecting the development of another human being and that every second in the day she knows that she is growing someone else’s arms and legs. The coolest part, Mrs. Abraham says is hearing the baby’s heartbeat. Mrs. Abraham will be taking off all of the 2008-2009 year, and that even though she is going to enjoy raising her child, she is going to miss the BHS students. On a related note, some BHS staff have announced births of their grandchildren and even more have had children in recent years. Congratulations to all of these families!
