Foran, Law Cheerleading Squads Team Up

By Melissa C. - Staff Reporter

The Jonathan Law and Foran cheerleaders plan to work together for the third time to create a halftime routine that will be performed on Thanksgiving Day. The squads have set aside two dates in which they will practice to put together the halftime performance. “Putting together the routine is always so much fun. It is really cool to hang out with the Foran girls. They’re a blast,” said one of Law’s senior captains Emma F. Thanksgiving is a big day for not just the two football teams. It is also a big day for the two cheerleading squads. The rivalry between the football teams is very strong. They don’t take to each other very nicely. The cheerleaders are the exact opposite. They work very well together and enjoy putting together the routine. “I’m not big into the whole Foran vs. Law rivalry, I mean, come on, my best friend is a Law cheerleader, how can I hate them?” said one of Foran’s senior captains Jess W. The two squads plan to perform a dance that they learned at cheerleading camp this summer and they will incorporate stunts as well. “I’m so excited to be a part of the squad this year and to be able to perform with the Foran cheerleaders is awesome. We all cheered together in Pop Warner so a lot of us are good friends,” said Law freshmen Melissa K. The week before the Thanksgiving game, there will be a dinner for the Foran and Law cheerleaders and football players at the Elks lodge. The football players do not really talk to each other but, on the other hand, the cheerleaders are friendly and eager to show off what they have put together. “I can’t wait to see what the girls put together. Every year they shock us. I can’t believe they get along so well, and girls are supposed to be the catty ones,” said senior Annie B. The cheerleaders work extremely hard and put a lot of time into the routine. It’s not easy to work with another squad and put together a halftime routine in which they are going to perform in front of tons of people. The girls are very excited and can’t wait for the performance. “I think it’s great how well the cheerleaders get along and that they put together such a great halftime performance,” said senior Kyle M. Every year the girls seem to outdo themselves. So be sure to attend the annual game at the Law field on Thanksgiving morning to watch the game and cheer on the cheerleaders at halftime.
