By Jordan Viraldo

The artists are in downtown Muskegon all this month for an art exhibit at the Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts. Student artists from all around the area are being showcased including schools such as Mona Shores, Reeths- Puffer, Western Michigan Christian, and our very own North Muskegon High School. Art work from two Beginning Ceramics classes at NM made it into the show, as well as a couple students work from Beginning and Advanced Drawing/Paint. The North Muskegon art teacher, Mrs. Trisha Benaway is very happy with the pieces the students submitted. "I’m excited that students were able to submit their artwork. All the pieces were well created, the show is really nice, and well put together," Mrs. Benaway said. This art exhibit is sponsored by the Muskegon Area Arts, Humanities Festival and the Muskegon Intermediate School District. "I made a hamburger face vessel," freshman Kyle Meyer said. Art students that have artwork in the exhibit are: Brianna Ballew, Christine Buchanan, Charles Clanton, Madison Clark, Elizabeth Hunter, Aya Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Sierra Johnson, Alicia Kelenske, Spencer Krannitz, Taylor Mills, Danielle Obenauf, Kathleen Pallante, Barrington Powell, Aaron Sanders, Morgan Seaberg, Anthony Smith, Heather Smith, Christa Tisch, Meggan Vanharn, Allison Wierda, Brianna Zorn, Michael Berge, Caroline Bonin, Kaylee Denhof, Nicholas Duplissis, Emily Friend, Colin Fuller, Tessa Fuller, Virginia Hoch, Carl Houts, Alexa Hunter, Leland Lapins, Kyle Meyer, Derek Phipps, Anthony Picard, Marissa Sischo, Jordan Viraldo, Jocob Wilks, Kelsey Wilks, and Emily Witham. "I feel honored that my artwork was chosen to be in this exhibit," sophomore Derek Phipps said. The art exhibit is open to the public Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m- 6:00 p.m, now through October 30. So you still have time left to visit and look at some great art work by your fellow classmates.
