			<title><![CDATA[Winter sports]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ <div class='ArticleAuthor'>By Devon Arnold</div><br> The winter sports teams did more then what was expected coming into the season . The Girls basketball team finished strong and made the tournament. They went 12-7 in the regular season and eventually ended up facing Ashland in the first round of the SCC tournament. They lost 58-41 due to defensive struggles. Kara Charette was chosen for the Standard Time’s Super Team; Kelsey Perron-Sovik made S-T honorable mention. Boy’s basketball finished 11-10. They went up against Apponequet in the preliminary round and Apponequet pulled off the upset 49-32. Adam Mullen made the S-T Second Team. The girl’s track team had a lot of all-stars, and finished off the season at 5-4. Senior Emma Riley made SCC’s for shot put. Allysha Silva made the Standard Times’ Second Team along with making SCC’s. Kristen Cregan made SCC’s for shot put. Senior Megan Faunce made the Standard Times’ Honorable Mention. They made the SCC relays and placed first out of five teams. In the SCC championship, they placed fifth out of nine teams. Five members of the Girls Indoor Track team participated in the Division 4 Championship. The meet was at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston Allysha Silva placed 12th overall in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:22. Katie Wordell placed 20th overall in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:26. Ashley Pereira placed 16th overall in the 600m with a time of 1:47 and Brianna Reagan placed 22nd overall in the 300 meters with a season best time of 46.15. The 4 x 400 relay team of Pereira, Megan Faunce, Wordell and Silva placed 17th overall with a season best time of 4:34. Boys track didn’t do quite well and finished off the season 1-8. Eric Stroud was an exceptional sprinter and thrower through out the season. In the SCC relays the team placed fourth out of five teams. In the SCC championships, the team unfortunately finished last placing ninth out of nine teams. Arguably the best team FHS had during the winter sports season was the ice hockey team. They finished 17-5 and made the tournament. They lost against Medfield in the first round. “We started off strong, and finished off lackadaisical,” said Trent Bertrand “It could have been better.” Ray Lawton won the MIAA Student-Athlete Award in December, which is a huge accomplishment for a student athlete.  ]]></description>
