In the coldest months, Uggs boots are still a hot fashion item.

At WMS, Uggs, North Face rule winter fashion By SARA G. Watertown Splash staff reporter Now that it’s getting chilly outside, you need a change in wardrobe. People at Watertown Middle School are getting bundled up in the latest winter fashions, so check out a few of these popular trends. A very popular winter fashion, not only at WMS but all over the world, are Ugg boots. Uggs are sheepskin boots that originated in Australia around the 1970s. Ugg boots became a worldwide fashion trend in the late 1990s, and are still in fashion after all that time. Uggs come in many styles. Some popular Uggs are the classic short and long boots, the short and long button-ups (Bailey button and Bailey button triplet), and the knit button-ups (classic cardy). There are tons of other styles you can check out at lots of stores and malls, including the Natick Mall and the Burlington Mall. Uggs are also very convenient because of how easy it is to slip them on and off. “I like to pair them with skinny jeans, sweat pants, and leggings,’’ said Christine S., a sixth-grader. Uggs are also great because you can pair them with almost anything! Style isn’t always cheap though. Uggs cost around $120 to $150. Rubina V., a sixth-grader, thinks they’re kind of expensive but would love to have a pair. Another very popular fashion at WMS are North Face jackets. Sixth-grader Emily K., said, “I think they’re stylish and very popular.” North Face specializes in fleece, which keeps kids toasty warm during those cold winter days. Hikers especially love North Face jackets because they are not as bulky as winter coats, but keep people just as warm. North Face jackets are also loved because of their great comfort and logo. At WMS, they are popular among both boys and girls. Lauren P., a sixth-grader said, “Everywhere I look I see North Face jackets.” North Face jackets come in many fashionable colors, including black, white, pink, purple, blue, red, and brown.
