By Kamau Kangacha

So we’ve come to our final entry of Smacktalk/Backtalk and I would like to leave you with a few words of wisdom for the summer when you are going to be without my intelligent words and total domination of Laura.
The Washington Capitals have been excellent throughout the regular season, as well as the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs after going seven games with the New York Rangers, and going to another seven game series with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In both series, the Capitals have faced elimination but have battled to force a game seven behind great leadership from left winger Alexander Ovechkin, but lost in the final game 6-2 at the Verizon Center. It was a disappointing finish for the Caps, but with a great, young team they should return to be a force next year.
It’s also playoff time for the NBA, and as the Cavaliers continue to stroll through the playoffs, not losing a single game, the Los Angeles Lakers, who some believe are the best team in the league, struggled against the battle-wounded Houston Rockets. The emergence of the Denver Nuggets in the West has a lot of teams worried including the Lakers who they have to play in the Conference Finals. It seems the midseason trade for Chauncey Billups worked out perfectly for the Nuggets, but not so much for the now-rebuilding Pistons.
Until next year Paint Branch, this is Kamau, signing off.
