How Clean is Your Computer ?

http://my.hsj.org/schools/newspaper/tabid/100/view/frontpage/schoolid/384/articleid/280162/how_clean_is_your_computer_.aspx

By Cecilia Smith

Today’s world thrives and survives around technology. Although technology is supposed to provide us with a stress free and easier way of life, it can be a time waster. Almost everyone experienced waiting a long time for their computer’s browser start up or having their computer freeze in the middle of saving that final paper. So what can we do to prevent these types of crisis in a time crunch? Thankfully there are options to help! Technology today, especially computers, are like a person in a sense; they have a body and a brain. Just like with humans, it is important to make sure that all the toxins are taken out of your computer. Taking the time to go through your computer’s files and rid your computer of programs and files that are not used will free up space. Another thing to do is clean out your computer’s desktop. Many people clutter their desktop with files and short-cuts for convenience. Well, this is not as convenient as it seems. Image if a human decided to wear their house on them. It would be exhausting for a human to wear all of their clothes and all of the contents of their house at the same time. It would be so much easier to put those items in their place instead of hauling them around everywhere. This applies to computers too. Files should be placed in appropriate folders such as my documents, my images, etc. Keeping desktop shortcuts to a minimum will help your computer start up faster. Backing up your computer and running a disk clean up and anti-virus scan are other ways to save you from the nightmare of loosing documents. Now that everything in its place the computer needs updates just as humans update their living quarters. Checking on software updates can help keep your computer up to date and running in tip top shape. It’s also important to care for your computer’s body. Wiping down your key board and shaking out the dust once in a while can help prevent key locks that can cause your computer to receive the wrong messages. Other tips and tools that could save you from loosing time on the computer as well as to help you stay up to date can be found at http://specterweb.com/tips.htm .
