If I Were a Poet

I wish I were a poet, like Shakespeare or Yeats, To write about love, about life and mortality, I would find inspiration by roaming the streets, I’d be able to gape at the yonder reality. I would paint ever brighter a day that’s forlorn, I’d be in my own created vicinity, I would visit dark places, which, of course, I’d adorn My soul would be traveling round the bends of infinity. I’d be glad to attain and confer such treats-- The ones of a poet in a state of unanimity, But I am not a poet like Shakespeare or Yeats, Yet, I like to think that we have some proximity Because saying “I love you” would sound so much sweeter If I were to say it in iambic pentameter.
