The team had their final league game against Valley View High School to determine the league championship. Following an hour-long rain delay, the teams began the game and played their hardest. After a six year dead zone, the BHS girls regained the title of League Champions. The Bellbrook Varsity team won the game in the seventh inning; the final score was 6-4. Going into the game, the head coach Brian Hoehner said he had never felt more confident in a team going up against Valley View. The team was doing great in practice the day before and everyone was ready to place their mark in the school’s athletic records. With high hopes and expectations to meet, the team persevered and played to the best of their ability. Junior Mariah Strausbaugh says, “Winning league was a very exciting moment for everyone. We worked really hard this season and it all paid off when the seventh inning ended and we won the game as well as the league.” When Bellbrook came out on top, the team celebrated with a gigantic group hug and later the coaches treated the girls to ice cream. Now that league games are over, the team continues to practice and prep for district games. The team once again has high hopes for districts and plans to enter them with a bang.
