By William Ray, Online Editor

Coach Shelly Miller's lady wave stepped onto the field Monday night against strong Northwest Rankin team that they had not yet faced. Coach Miller's girls had many chances in the first half, but most were blocked by great saves from NWR's goalkeeper. At halftime, the score was 0-0. In the second half the girls kept on with their pressure but made sure that in this half they put the ball in the back of the net. Hannah Weatherly placed the first goal in, and then sophomore Meghan Brown executed the other. Tupelo's boys did not have the same outcome as the girls Tuesday night. Though it seems that the boys outplayed Clinton in every aspect of the game, in the end, the final score did not show it. The game was very physical and each team played to their best ability, and at halftime the score was 0-0. In the 23rd minute of the second half, Dylan McCord blasted a shot past Clinton's keeper, Goodlett, to put the wave ahead 1-0. However, Clinton seemed to feed off this goal and in the 24th minute answered with a goal to tie up the game. Six minutes later, in the 18th minute, Clinton went ahead 2-1 on a perfect front-post throw in. The Tupelo boys tried their hardest to score the equalizer, but no one could seem to find the back of the net. The game ended in a 2-1 loss advancing Clinton forward in the playoffs and ending Tupelo's season. This Saturday the Lady Wave soccer team will host Madison Central at 11 a.m. The Lady Wave have already defeated MC twice this year and will look to make it a third time Saturday. Good luck girls!
